The European Commission has announced nearly 30 million € funding for three large R&D projects into fibre and polymer recycling for the circular economy, each with a consortium of around 20 research institutes and industry participants.
FiberEUse addresses reuse of glass- and carbon-fibre reinforced polymer composites. PolyCE aims to develop harmonised technical requirements for recycled plastics, covering material properties and different applications. ECOBULK will demonstrate ‘closing the loop’ for polymer composite products in automobile, furniture and construction sectors. Compatibility of flame retardants with recycling and fire safety performance of recycled products, compatible with environmental and health criteria, are important questions for the polymer circular economy. pinfa will propose cooperation towards these objectives with the different partners of these projects.
