Lucie Costes, University of Mons (Bergen), Belgium: phosphorylated and N (ammonium) reacted lignins as a sustainable PIN FR for bio-sourced PLA (poly lactic acid, extracted e.g. from sugar beet). The use of 20%wt P and N reacted lignin in PLA improves thermal stability, reduces peak heat release and enables to achieve UL94-V0 fire performance.
