Björn Sundström, SP Fire Research, Sweden, described the development of the European Construction Products Directive and later Regulations (CPR), including measures for ensuring safety in the case of fire.
He noted the fire toxicity regulations in air, rail and sea transport, and contrasted it to the complete absence of regulations on fire toxicity in either European buildings (under the CPR), or in buses and coaches.
