EU POP restriction for Dechlorane Plus

The European Commission has added the halogenated flame retardant Dechlorane Plus to the POPs Regulation. Dechlorane plus and its syn- and anti-isomers is effectively banned, as are (after a delay 2 ½ years) products containing more than 1 mg/kg (substances, mixtures and articles). This level is set based on current laboratory measurement limits. Exemptions are authorised for aerospace, medical imaging and radiotherapy and certain spare parts for existing equipment, to be reviewed by 2028.
