Call for partners: upcycling PIN polymers

HFFR-Up2Cycle project aims to restabilise and upgrade recycled polymers to PIN FR performance materials. Depending on industry partners, the project will look at post-consumer and closed loop plastics from electrical and electronics, automotive, cables and constructions, looking at market representative polymers. Impacts on mechanical properties and fire performance, and on durability in ageing and further recycling will be assessed, looking at interactions between PIN flame retardants and other additives and upgrading by re-additivation and polymer blending between recycling loops. Fraunhofer LBF are looking for 8-10 industry partners to take the project forward: FR suppliers, compounders, plastics, recyclers, OEMs, … Contribution 12 000 € per partner for a one-year project, start planned summer 2025. Several pinfa member companies have expressed interest.
