Canada consultation chlorinated alkanes

Open to 13th April, public consultation on proposed Canada ban on medium and long-chain chlorinated alkanes (MCCAs, LCCAs). Information is also requested on MCCAs and short-chain chlorinated alkanes (SCCAs). These halogenated chemicals are used in various applications, including as flame retardants. pinfa suggests that safer non-halogenated (PIN FR) solutions are available. SCCAs were already banned in Canada and the Canada regulatory process has already concluded that all three groups SCCAs, MCCAs and LCCAs are toxic. This consultation concerns a proposed ban on the manufacture, import, use and sale of MCCAs and LCCAs (up to 20 carbon atoms) and also of products containing these, possible controls on exports, as well as a request for information on SCCAs and MCCAs.
