New fire test for vandalised furniture

The US standards organisation has issued a new standard ASTM F3727-24 for fire testing of vandalised furniture. The test is intended for prisons and is based on ASTM E1537-22 “Standard Test Method for Fire Testing of Upholstered Furniture” and tests flammability after standardised vandalization to expose padding material. Heat release and mass loss are measured.
