Non-halogen, non-antimony PIN FR PP
Highland Plastics Kelvinite non-halogen FR polyporopylene (PP) achieves UL94 V-0 at 0.25mm thickness. Designed and manufactured in the USA, these HFFR compounds comply with REACH and RoHS and are antimony and PFAS-free. Based on polypropylene (PP) and including nitrogen/phosphorous fire safety chemistry, these compounds are self-extinguishing, char-forming and intumescent and offer superior flame retardancy compared to traditional halogenated systems. The self-extinguishing burning behavior makes these materials an excellent choice for fire protection applications and the EV battery industry is exploring their use in thermal runaway applications and as a replacement for mica sheets. In addition to their flame retardant properties these Kelvinite products offer excellent electrical insulation with a CTI value >600V, and their physical properties make them suitable for thermoforming, cold-forming, and living hinge applications. As a result, Kelvinite HFFR PP offers advantages to manufacturers over both halogenated polypropylenes and halogen-free polycarbonate materials.
