Non-hazardous and validated PIN FRs

List of PIN flame retardants which are not classified and/or independently validated for health & environment properties. pinfa has compiled a list of nearly 20 PIN FRs (phosphorus, inorganic, nitrogen flame retardants) which have no* health or environment classification and/or are listed or authorised under independent health and environment labels (TCO, Öko-Tex, GreenScreen 1-3). These include organophosphorus, inorganic phosphorus, nitrogen, mineral and silica based PIN FRs. The list is published alongside other information on the regulatory and sustainability aspects of PIN FRs in pinfa’s ‘Flame Retardants Academy’ information slide set (110 slides, available here). Comments on this list, and proposed additional PIN FRs to include (produced by pinfa members or non-members) are welcome, as the intention is to update and complete the list as further PIN FRs are developed or health and environment validated.
