Non-hazardous FR synergist to replace ATO

William Blythe (pinfa member) launches new inorganic zinc and tin based synergist and smoke suppressant. The new product is non-hazardous and is based on zinc-tin mixed metal oxide/hydroxide to offer a cost-effective substitute for antimony trioxide. As the primary flame retardant synergist, [CD1] it delivers self-extinguishment and UL 94 V-0 in PVC. Other William Blythe zinc stannate and hydroxystannate synergists are adapted for polyamides, elastomers and thermoset formulations. The product acts to reduce flammability in the gas phase and also reduces smoke emissions by condensed phase action.
