UK sets cladding replacement deadlines
UK Government sets deadlines for remediation of fire-risk cladding materials at end 2029 or 2031 for apartment buildings respectively > 18m or >11m high, with landlords facing unlimited fines if remediation is not completed by the deadline without reasonable justification. Some 15 000 tall apartment buildings in England and Scotland alone have non fire-safe cladding (100 000 people living in affected homes), see pinfa Newsletter n°163. The UK’s planned Remediation Bill is accompanied by UK£ 1 billion public money to support cladding replacement in social housing.
