pinfa presents benefits and risks of PIN flame retardants at Interflam 2025

At Interflam 2025, held 30th June to 2nd July at Royal Holloway, University of London, pinfa (Phosphorus, Inorganic and Nitrogen Flame Retardants Association) shared insights on the role of PIN flame retardants (PIN FRs) in advancing fire safety.

The international conference gathered 360 participants from nearly 40 countries for three days of exchange, featuring 125 presentations and 90 posters. Interflam is a key platform linking researchers, fire safety engineers, fire services, regulators and designers, ensuring that cutting-edge fire science is quickly translated into safer buildings and materials.

Adrian Beard, President of pinfa, presented on the benefits and risks of PIN FRs and PIN smoke suppressants, highlighting how these technologies can significantly improve fire safety while also reducing smoke emissions and toxicity. He also outlined the research still needed to provide robust evidence of these benefits and to address remaining knowledge gaps.
